Film - Sin Sisamouth, what would you like to see
Fellow KCers--if there was a movie to come out on Sin Sisamouth, what would you like to see? In other words which aspects of his life or his career should be touched? Why is it important? I need your help- Silong ____________________________________

A descriptive biography that depicted his lifestyle, the impact his music had on the listeners and what exactly inspired him etc. would be nice.

Hehe, by movie i hope you don't mean a documentary. I'd prefer a movie over a documentary but i wouldn't mind a documentary on his life. I'd like to see his life outside of his career, his relationships with other arists/actors/actresses back then. and hopefully we can get an idea of what his last few days were like and how he felt. So is this gonna be a project you're working on?

The story of his rise to fame and eventual legend status. But also his faults and things to depict his "human" side.

what inspires him to write certian songs, there may be some of his songs that were political and what difficulties he faced being an entertainer with a view.

i dont know if this is much help but his violinist and the organ player is still alive. i saw a documentary about it on tv. they had this reunion cause one of the band members is living in japan and the other is in cambodia teaching music and singing, it was pretty emotional seeing two old guys cry. ____________________________________

Sounds interesting...so who is going to play as him? What about other famous names that ties in with Mr. Samouth? Such as Ros Sereysothea, Pan Ron...I think they were the closest as to "singing relationships" (in a friendly, working way) I'd like to see this documentary/movie when it comes out

Showing the singers relate to each other is a good idea. I only heard people say how he sort of discovered Ros Serey Sothea, but not the details. Some part of it would should deal with the struggle of making a living as a Khmer performer (neak selapak អ្នកសិល្បៈ), I remember reading a translation of magazine saying how he was the most popular singer and he had his own house, but many of his fellow singers struggle so much to live off their music. He even forbid his children from becoming a singers. I also like the idea of showing how he writes his songs and taught himself how to sing. I really wnat to see both a documentary and a movie. Can't wait. សំបូរ (Sambo)

Does the violinist by any chance go by the name of Has Salon? Has Salon was one of Sin Sisamouth's best violinists. I can also list for you a few more people that you might what to interview or get some information from for this movie. Sin Chanchaya: Sin Sisamouth's Son Sin Sisamouth's wife: name unknown but i heard she was still alive Sos Mach: His father Sos Math was married to Rous Sarey Sothea and he might be able to help out Kung Bonchoeun: Novel writer & movie director back then. I'm not sure if he ever worked personally with Sin sisamouth but Sin Sisamouth did write a few songs for some of Kung Bonchoeun's movie soundtracks "Nirk Kurng Pka Ltom & Phoum Phnom Thoum Tronom Kha'aek Kmao" just to name a few. Ly Bun Yim: Movie director, Directed On euy srey On and his wife Vireak Dara who played On are currently alive living in France i believe Dy Saveth: Actress still living and still acting Sihanouk: haha he's personally worked with Sin Sisamouth a few times Om Somavathey?: I'm not sure if that's her name. It's been a while since she released anything but she's Huy Meas's daughter. Huy Meas was a singer and a radio talk show host and did alot of Lakorn Niyeays and sang with Sin Sisamouth a few times. Di Kan Kolin: She's currently residing in CA. She used to be a Karaoke actress in the mid/late 90's then went to California. Her father was Yin Di Kan. Yin Di Kan was a music composer back then also, one of his most popular songs were "Snae Bat Somros" Chhoun Malai: Singer back then currently alive, popular songs include "Bong Kmean Maytha, Tuk Ho Chnai, Bopha" Vor Sarun: Original artist of the famous song "Neary Maksi" and currently alive I'm not sure if this helps any but hopefully they would be able to provide you with some information. I'd list down Pen Rom too (Pen Ron's sister) but she recently passed away.

Well I just hope it's made in a tasteful, classic way and not the way Khmer movies are made nowadays! I just watched this Thai film called "The Overture" which is based on a true story of a real person! That film was awesome and great! I'm not saying you should copy them but if Khmer films were made or exceed to this standard then I will be super happy! Also watching other Asian film such as Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Indian would be great for you too see how films about people of history are made in Asia. Also it would be great if that film is made in which other asian countries can watch it without hearing chuckles, laughs in the crowd. I mean this is Sin Sisamouth and I don't want a movie made about is life if it lacks quality and looks like a child playing with cameras! I know I might come off a bit harsh and mean but this is just an opinion and suggestions that I hope you take it lightly into consideration. I mean if Mongolia made a movie about Genghis Khan or Kublai Khan they would want something great too!

ahh, homrong? it was pretty good (one of the pieces they played was a traditonal khmer tune...sounded very nice). back to the topic: according to my mom, my neighbors are supposed to be cousins of sinn sisamuth, or distant cousins. i should go and ask...i think they told me once before, but since i'm not a huge fan of sinn sisamuth, i really didn't pay attention. quote: Originally posted by DaraAngels Well I just hope it's made in a tasteful, classic way and not the way Khmer movies are made nowadays!
