Sin Sisamouth was not only a great singer but also a music composer and a lyric writer. His lyrics are very percise. He knew Cambodia very well and would write special songs for each special place. According to Sin Chanchaya (Sin sisamouth's son), Sin Sisamouth wrote about 60-70% of his songs. Durring Sin Sisamouth's short lifetime time he was invited to the grand palace a few times to sing with the grand palace's orchestra. His work is priceless. His metaphors are beautiful. Even though he is dead his music is still played and listened to everyday.
Preap Sovath - Preap Sovath is mostly supported by a portion of the newer generation. Even though he is supported by the newer generation, he doesnt have 100% of the newer generation's support. His songs are composed by Americans, Chinese, Thai etc. Even though Preap Sovath it's not always long lasting. He'll come out with a hit and then go quiet for a while until he released another hit. Preap Sovath has never written his own song. Preap Sovath (style wise) tries to stay up to date with the internation stars. This sentence made me giggle. hehe. (Bot jomreang robos loke mean lekanak chea bot "sraek vake vauk prokach proken" doche jea pourk europe). His songs are usually nonsense crazy screaming songs like the europeans.
Sin Sisamouth is a khmer treasure. He has many different styles and many different lyrics. Sin Sisamouth has a song for almost everyone to relate to, on the other hand it's mostly only the newer generation that can relate to Preap Sovath's songs. Despite their popularity, these two should never be compared. It's like trying to compare Angkor Wat to a modern day sky scrapper.

u cant compare the two.. its apples and oranges. sin sisamouth remains a legend, but in the present times, preap sovath is the most popular artist. both are very talented singers, though i must commend preap sovath for his vocal flexibility and expansive vocal range.

i love samouth cause not only he can sing but wrote songs for every genre from traditional cambodian style to western style. listen to the songs and u can find alot of simlarities. and u gotta admire him for writting all those songs that were soundtracks to those old films.

I never knew Sin Sisamouth have a son, my parent told me he doesn't have any children

Can his son sings like him? Sinsisamouth is a legend, I don't think there will be anybody like him.

It's obvious which of those two has "real" talents. I don't think they should compare them either.

Lets not forget that Preap Sovat sucks and if you compare the two its like comparing a king to a servant, of course the king being Simouth.

Anyways, besides music people cannot deny Simouths intelects, the man was also a nurse. I have great respect for him. Don't even try to compare him to that corny crap.

No definately a nurse and thats factual. Its no surprise that people like to boost his status but he was a nurse not a doc.

Sin Sisamouth holds the title of King of Cambodian music, a music doctor, and golden voice. He picked up his first instrument around the age of 5 or 6. He's not your average musician. I'm sure if Sin Sisamouth was still alive Preap Sovath wouldn't even be heard of.

Why are there so many put down on Preap Sovath. If you don't like him, there are others who will like him. Preap can sing slow, pop, rock, even country. Sin Sesmuth was great, he has his genre, Preap has his own.

Definately not khmer rouge, he was killed by those f-u-c-k-s so that is not even logical.

Lets say peoples judgement on Preap is subjective so good or bad let your voice be heard. Its all subjective and thats how opinions work.

Comparing Preap and Simouth is like comparing a person using a calculator to do math and one that does it by using his head. And of course simouth is the one that uses his head and that is objective.

sin sisamouth is one of my two fav singers of all time. (the other is this un-named chinese melody singer.) he can sing different types of songs and still sounds good.

Sin Sisamouth is to old cambodia. preap sovath is to new cambodia.
time is changing and preap sovath is the new era for cambodia.

he can sing but not so well, he sang in the earlier years around the 90s but there weren't much support for him. I read an old article his son stating that his father, Sin Sisamuth did not want any of his children to be an entertainer.

You can not compare Samooth to any other Cambodian male singer. He was one of a kind. If anything, Elvis Presley might be comparable but even Elvis can not touch him because Samooth wrote and sang hundred of songs. This is why the world need to know about this legend. I can't wait for his movie to come out. It should not only educate the Khmer people but the world about this legend.

Please do not put this preap sovat on the same book lead alone on the same page as Sin Sisamooth.
