Khmer Kickboxing Im a filipino and am currently learning Muay Thai. I train at some private place here in the Inland Empire. I want to know if there's any of you out there that do Pradal Serei, or Kun Khmer, or Khmer boxing. Its basically the same stuff but I just wanna meet some Cambodians or whatever that is learning the art. Im also interested to know if there are gyms on Kun Khmer in the southland (california) and where I can buy some VCDs/DVDs on the fights they have in Cambodia.
Thanks

first of all you have to be in a community where there is a good cambodian precense. Most likely there will be cambodian video stores around. If you can find one, i'm pretty sure they will refer you to others around town. Some video stores have khmer boxing vids and some don't. you just have to ask around.

Kbach Kun Boran Khmer From Sala Tah Prom Kromm (Group) Hanuman Will be coming soon to Southern California soon; please keep coming back to this site for update.
The school will be teaching the Kbach Kun Boran Khmer and the Boran Leiy Samiy (Not Pradal Serey, but pre-pradal Serey). Khmer martial art has been evolving through time. The 12 Mae of Kbach Kun Khmer Boran was the original. I know for sure, it because 12 Mae of Kbach Kun Boran Khmer during that time only worship the 4 elements: Earth, Water, Winds and Fire. Sro Ngairpen the first evolve from the 12 Mae of Kbach Kun Boran Khmer. Then, Boxkator, probably during the Jayavarman II period, because, by then, the Kbach Kun has its name link to the Hindu name and worship the Hindu god as well. There are many style breakdown even further during the Mohayean of Jayavarman VII, that I am not sure of, but the latest one before Pradal Serey, there calls, "Boran Leiy Samiey", which emphasis of door system, such as 3 doors, 4 doors, 5 doors, 6 doors and 8 doors and this Kbach Kun has 13 Mae. Base of my understanding of the Boran and Boran Liey Samiy, there is some differences. Boran emphasis of defend of to the outside and strike back inside. The only techniques that emphasis of inside is Mae Sva Projab. Boran Liey Samiy is emphasis of striking and defending from the inside and some outside such as Mae Pleek.
The latest one is Pradal Serey and I am not it has the Mae anymore because it is more of a sport and notice the word serey means “free style”, meaning you use whatever work for you in the ring, except kicking someone in the nut and biting.
Khmer martial is on the come back, soon we will host a fight in Lowell Massachusetts in February, pending location. Please come and support the Kromm Hanuman!!!
